Artist-in-Residence

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Land Kärnten (Carinthia)

I’m very excited and pleased to have been awarded the 2024 Artist-in-Residence Grant from the Austrian Federal State of Carinthia. The 5-month grant is in the field of Artistic Photography and Media Art. In cooperation with the city of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, the State provides a living and work space in Europahaus Klagenfurt, a cultural and educational institution.

The residency grant ends with an exhibition at the Living Studio of Stadtgalerie Klagenfurt.

From May to September 2024, I will continue my artistic research and practice focusing on body, gender and space. Within the multidisciplinary project framework of BODY OF MERE BEING, I will interrogate the place of queer embodiment within the gendered construction of public and private spaces. Starting from an assumption of a male- and heteronormative-dominated design and architecture of our built environment, the aim of the project is to expose the power dynamics between bodily boundaries and physical (as well as social) structures through a queer-feminist lens.
